But first, some basic navigation!

An Entity is best thought of as something like a company or organisation – think ‘BHP’, ‘Royal Society for the Blind’, or ‘New York Scout Group’.

Users may require multiple entities – As an employee of “BuildersRUs”, a person may work on a number of projects, however “BuildersRUS” may also set up a joint venture with “RailwaysRUs” and create a new joint venture entity “BRJV” for a new project.

But an Entity could also be used as a simple heading to group a set of projects under – for instance a person who uses Hut12 for work may also want to use it for their own private projects, this can be done by creating a new entity ‘My Personal Stuff’ and then new projects such as ‘My New House’ can be started!

Each Project must be started under an Entity.

An Entity can have many Projects, for instance a company like BHP probably has a hundred or more projects that it is working on at any one time, for example “New Airport Project” or “Office Relocation Project”.

Creating a New Entity

If someone from your organisation has already registered with Hut12 the only way to join is to ask them to send you an invitation to the Entity. Otherwise, you will find yourself creating an entirely new Entity!

Step one: Select Business Type

If you are a new user and no one else in your organisation has registered your entity, then your first step is to select whether the new Entity will be registered as an individual or an organisation. You’ll be able to change the Entity from ‘individual’ to ‘organisation’ later if you wish, but you cannot change from ‘organisation’ to ‘individual’.

Individual:

  • Limits the number of Active projects to a maximum of (2) two at any given time.

Organisation:

  • Is for commercial and not-for-profit use.
  • Can have unlimited an unlimited number of users.
  • Can have unlimited unlimited number of projects.

Step Two: Entity Details

Enter in the details for your entity. (Details can be changed and updated by anyone from your organisation who is registered as an entity administrator).
